It was an honor to paint Brittni, I believe she is the music of the future, so very easy on the heart and soul. She brings to mind a lesson by Rembrandt:
The material charm of Old Masters paintings was almost never obtained by there pupils. The techniques of Masters is that spiritual freedom rested on a sound  basis of craftman-ship, a plan carefully thought out from the ground up was inspiration, there completeness, discipline, perfection, unity appear incomprehensible as well as purely simple. Careful exucution does not hamper but forms the basis for which artistic freedom arises. Never to be influenced by trends or what is fashionable, the rewards are temporary...

When I first decided to paint the painting my inspiration was Brittni's music, as I listened to her music while I painted, I saw into her eyes, a real softness of kindness, I also saw that she was incredibly intelligent, a genius's stare, like there was allot of thinking going on below the surface, a kind of certain sadness you see in all great artists eyes from Michelangelo to Jimi Hendrix. I chose the bright color of orange-sienna burst because she brought to mind that magical spiritual time of day between the two worlds of night and day... I chose the giant sea turtle for her parallel in the animal world. The spirit of the solo and ancient soul of the sea turtle. The hardest part of the whole painting which I really enjoyed doing most was her eye brows, they are very unique and very descriptive of her personality, very cool...
In closing, I really love the song she composed which is the title song on her music CD "Hear", The song is called "E Lohea Mai". I truly believe Pope John Paul II would of loved to hear the presence of Brittni perform that song in the halls of the Vatican, fill the air with such beauty and soul. Thank God for people in the world like Brittni Keahalani Paiva, they inspire us all infinitely.....
